introduction of being an RTACC provider, Kinematics, and mechanism of injury

Scene assessment, safe approach and initial actions. Including Triage and Major Incident

🢆 Massive haemorrhage control:
Direct/indirect pressure, haemostatic agents and emergency tourniquet application

🢆 Airway assessment and management:
Manual techniques and airway adjuncts including oropharyngeal, nasopharyngeal and supraglottic airways

🢆 Respiratory Assessment:
Recognising, assessing and treating thoracic trauma and complications including the application of chest dressings/seals

🢆 Resuscitation:
Adult Immediate Life Support (ILS) including pit crew resuscitation, airway management and ventilation using bag-valve masks, I-GELS and return of spontaneous circulation drills

🢆 Circulation + Shock:
Assessment, recognition and management of internal and external blood loss, wounds and hypovolaemic shock

🢆 Head, Handling + Hypothermia:

🢆 Basic Life Support:
Adult, child and infant Basic Life Support including CPR and safe use of AED/Defibrillator, recognition and treatment of mild and severe choking and recovery position

🢆 Medical Emergencies:
Recognition, assessment and treatment of medical emergencies including common respiratory conditions, major illnesses and severity factors

🢆 Emergency Oxygen:
Safe use of emergency oxygen including health and safety, indications and contraindications, dosage and methods of administration and monitoring the effects of emergency oxygen

RTACC delivers a high level ofadvanced casualty trauma care, specifically delivered for individuals operating in high-risk, hazardous and hostile pre-hospital environments.

This course delivers a high level of enhanced first aid, specifically designed for emergency services personnel and high-risk workplace members, such as close protection officers, Police and Military. Candidates will be equipped with skills and knowledge to confidently manage time critical medical and trauma emergencies in an engaging manner.

Rescue Trauma and Casualty Care (RTACC) is aimed at providing specialised care to individuals who are injured or in critical condition, often in emergency or rescue settings. RTACC training is typically designed for first responders, emergency medical personnel, paramedics, and other healthcare providers who may be responsible for providing care in high-stress and potentially dangerous situations.

Entry requirements ::

To undertake this course, you must be at least 18 years old on the first day of the course

Candidates must have an understanding of basic First Aid and ideally have attended an Emergency First Aid at Work course within the last 3 years

Delegates must be capable of undertaking physically demanding skill-stations and exercises

Students must have a good basic understanding of the English language as this course does include a written examination

Additional information ::

The qualification lasts for three years from issue and can be revalidated by reattending another RTACC course (discounted).

Candidates will have to pass a collection of practical assessments, skill-stations and one 30 question MQC exam

Accommodation is not provided but lunch and light refreshments are included for all 3 days

RTACC is accredited by The Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care and successful students can go on to apply for membership at level E if they wish to do so
