Looking for trending sneakers to step into the spring-summer 2024 season strongly? You've come to the right place. It might feel like we've barely just welcomed 2024, but we are already venturing into spring-summer 2024 trends. (What is time?)
When it comes to picking the right sneakers for your style, it's not hard to find the trend that speaks to you. There truly is something for everyone — whether you like minimalist classic styles or exaggerated proportions, neutral tones or striking colors, ultra-flats, platforms, or even springs.
With so many styles to choose from, it might be hard to pick just one; that's why we have rounded up the 12 trending sneakers styles that you'll be seeing everywhere this spring-summer 2024 season, with celeb and influencer inspo to boot. Let's get into it.
1. Soccer-inspired sneakers
Neil Mockford
Last year's Women's World Cup laid the foundation for an increasingly influential aesthetic in the fashion industry: Soccer. Soccer jerseys have gotten the luxury treatment, mid-calf socks have become a wardrobe staple, and sneakers that were once designed for this sport have become the jewels of our shoe rack.
Though not so much resembling soccer cleats, the love-it-or-hate-it Nike Shox are among the most popular soccer-inspired sneakers. Hailey Bieber has been seen on more than one occasion with this striking Nike model, combining it with low-rise jeans and a white crop top. The Martine Rose collab definitely made these sneakers soar in popularity as a super trend, but the regular style is poised to be just as coveted if you want a classic and versatile shoe.
2. Sambas

The Adidas Samba are, without a doubt, the sneakers of 2023, so no one is surprised that they reign supreme again in 2024. Kaia Gerber, Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, and Hailey Bieber have all made these sneakers their go-to, so everyone else around the world has followed suit.
The Sambas, which were first marketed in the '50s and were initially designed for indoor soccer, fit right in with the popular blokecore trend and are a risk-adverse option. While people tend go to for the more classic white and black models, there are also more colorful options that work even better for spring and summer. The collaboration with Walles Bonner has also made various iterations of the shoe even more trendy.
3. Sneakers with a touch of silver

These sneakers are designed to give a metallic touch to our looks. We have been accessorizing with silver and gold since the beginning of time, so why not give our sneakers the same treatment?
Though there are multiple silhouettes that embrace the metallic silver trend, one foolproof way to adopt it is to opt for “dad shoes.” Originally, these reflective details made it easier to be seen when playing sports outdoors; now, they are an added cool touch. New Balance and ASICS are definitely the brands to look out for to embrace this aesthetic, though Nike also has some under-the-radar options.

Before we talked about blokecore, now let us introduce you to retrocore. In the world of sneakers, retrocore refers to trending sneakers inspired by past decades, which combine vintage elements with other more modern ones. This is where the Mexico 66 by Onitsuka Tiger or the Air Max 95 come into play.
The Mexico 66 by Onitsuka Tiger became a pop culture statement thanks to Uma Thurman's iconic look in Kill Bill, reaching cult status with an 83% increase in searches over the last year. Now, new interpretations of these models with decades of history are back to delight sneaker lovers.
5. Gorpcore sneakers
Marrying ugly shoes and normcore shoes, we have another “core” added to the list of trends we should have on our radar: gorpcore. The new street style obsessions revolve around windbreakers, mountaineering clothing, velcro accessories, puffer jackets, and raincoats, so it was only a matter of time before this new fixation filtered through to footwear.
At first glance, they may not be the most flattering sneakers in the world but you only have to take a look at the “wrong shoe theory” to realize that they can elevate — and a lot —our styles. If you are still not sure, ask Emily Ratajkowski, who was seen walking around the Big Apple with the gorpcore shoes: the Salomon XT-6. (Honestly, all Salomons are trending atm!)

Adidas's collaborations have been hit after hit lately. The sports brand has struck gold with the Wales Bonner Sambas, a FEAR OF GOD collaboration with Jerry Lorenzo, the new creative director of Adidas Basketball, and multiple silhouettes with superstar Bad Bunny.
The German giant seems to have a knack for turning loungewear-style garments into real luxury items worthy of a waiting list by teaming up with some of the most reputable names in the industry. This strategy is more than welcome by sneaker lovers who, after selling out of the latest reinterpretations of top sellers like the Adidas Forum Low or Adidas Campus, have found in these coalitions their new object of desire.
7. New school sneakers

If there is one thing Generation Z is known for, it is combining the latest trends with tremendously nostalgic elements. The younger generation strives to differentiate themselves by creating their own somewhat eclectic style. This means modern crop tops coexist with granny stockings, vintage bomber jackets, and sneakers you'd wear ages ago, and the result could not be better. If you want this vibe, look for sneakers like the Vans Knu Skool or Adidas Campus.
8. Classics that never die

With the long-awaited new season of The Crown already available on streaming, certain classics are making a comeback. The new installment of the series centers on Princess Diana as the main protagonist, so it is not surprising that some of her most iconic looks are back on trend on and off our screens.
Oversize sweatshirts, cycling tights, and running sneakers rubbed shoulders with gala dresses and impeccable two-piece suits in Lady Di's dressing room — possibly the most talked-about closet of any royal. While the clothes were the main attraction, sneakers also never took a backseat.
One of the pairs we saw Lady Di wearing were the Reebok Princess — yes, the British brand could not have chosen a better name — a classic that promises to return in 2024. Since tenniscore is also on the rise, other Reebok models have also become must-haves for trend lovers.
9. Colorful XL soles

It's official: Rihanna is back. Okay, not musically speaking (although we wish), but with a new release from Puma. The Barbados star rehashed her collaboration with the sportswear brand, which first launched back in 2015, with a new version of the sneakers. The sneaker revolutionized the market at the time by becoming Footwear News' Shoes of the Year in 2016, and they have every chance of repeating their success in 2024.
This time, the Creeper Phatty comes with a chunky XL-sized sole, vibrant colors, and a more cushioned look.“When designing the Creeper Phatty, we wanted to reinvent the OG Creeper that was loved by so many. It’s a classic silhouette that has been missed, so its return had to be bigger," confessed the singer.

Also, in the normcore but without the technical aspect of the Salomons, we have a new player in the game: ON, a Swiss brand dedicated to making sports footwear, specifically for running, that feels and looks like a cloud. The brand solidified its status in the fashion forefront with a Loewe collaboration, so it is clear that its design has surpassed its functionality. The fact that celebrities like Emily Ratajkowski or Zendaya have already worn them, also helps.
11. Nostalgic sneakers

The Air Jordan I, the Adidas Cortez, and the Puma Suede are among some of the sneakers that shaped pop culture scenes half a century ago. They are now the object of desire among insiders, who take advantage of the casual but emblematic vibes to dress down formal looks. Converse's Chucks are also a great example of a timeless icon in the footwear world for its classic style and versatility.

The sneakers of the moment are the Adidas SL 72, and we are already seeing them everywhere. From Bella Hadid herself to countless Instagram profiles of the top fashionistas, this model was first launched as a running shoe in 1972 to coincide with the Olympic Games. As is often the case in this industry, the style has adapted from its original sporty purpose to integrate into everyone's closets and provide a relaxed touch to everyday ensembles.
